The system is triggered by an intruder activating a sensor when they enter a protected area or through a panic button activated by a member of staff, and can be configured to work in a burglary and/or robbery situation. SmartWater Forensic Spray System and SmartWater Fog Protect are integrated into your existing alarm system, requiring only a 12V power supply.
The system disperses SmartWater Forensic Taggant for approximately 8-10 seconds, and is available in different volumes, as well as a selection of nozzles defining the target area, are designed to fulfil your specific installation requirements. The SmartWater Forensic Spray will be dry to the touch in less than one hour.
Don’t panic! The solution is non-hazardous and non-toxic. We recommend wiping up excess solution to prevent a slip hazard. Contact us via our enquiry form and we will record the unique forensic code as not being involved in a crime and arrange for a replacement unit to be sent out.
In the event any individual is found with a forensic taggant from an accidental activation, SmartWater will inform the police there was no criminal involvement. It is recommended that rubber gloves are worn when handling to prevent forensic cross-contamination.
If your system is not monitored, inform the police immediately ensuring you highlight the fact that a SmartWater Spray Unit has activated. If possible, cordon off the activation area and the criminal’s escape route to avoid evidence contamination. If this is not possible, record the names of people who enter the area and do not attempt to clean the area. Await the arrival of Scenes of Crime Officers and complete SmartWater’s activation form here to notify us of the activation and arrange a replacement Spray Unit.
Combining two proven deterrents – forensic traceability and vision-obscuring security fog – the SmartWater Fog Cannon is the ultimate solution for securing your premises.
That’s right, SmartWater have teamed up with security innovators, Protect, to devise a revolutionary new security solution which combines the robust forensic technology of our Forensic Spray system and security fog in one device.
Though primarily a deterrent, the system will cover an intruder in the invisible SmartWater fingerprint, tagging them and any stolen property back to the scene of the crime, whilst at the same time, the dense security fog immediately halts the intruder’s advance, as it fills the room, obscuring their vision.
No. Whether installed as a SmartWater Forensic Spray System or as part of a SmartWater Fog Cannon, the ‘spray’ targets a defined area, usually a point of access or a specific location within premises, and will not mark the surroundings.
SmartWater Forensic Spray can only be transferred before it dries. Once dry there is no risk of any cross-contamination or any individual being marked with the SmartWater Spray solution. After an activation of either the SmartWater Forensic Spray System or Fog Protect, it is beneficial to leave or avoid the targeted area until it has had chance to dry as footprints may be used by the Police as part of their investigation.
SmartWater will wear off gradually as skin exfoliates and will remain detectable for weeks, perhaps even months after the incident, even with excess cleaning or showering. Once the solution has dried it will not be in any way visible on the skin except under ultraviolet light – criminals won’t even know it’s there.
Similarly on clothing, SmartWater will not be visible except under ultra violet light, however the solution will remain on clothing permanently.
Our Laboratory Technicians only require a trace the size of a speck of dust to link an offender back to a crime scene.
No, the SmartWater forensic taggant is invisible to the naked eye and only detectable under UV light. Floor covering, paint work, blinds, etc. will be marked with the taggant but will not leave any visible mark or stain. The target area of the spray will be defined by the type of spray nozzle installed.
SmartWater is a non-hazardous water-based solution containing a unique forensic code specific to a location. If a Forensic Spray System is activated it will spray the criminal and the solution will remain on their skin or hair for weeks after the event and will stay on footwear and clothing even longer.
This provides the Police with irrefutable evidence of the criminal’s presence at the crime scene, ensuring a conviction. Evidence such as fingerprints and footprints will also be left at the crime scene.
